I often hear students wishing there were more opportunities to practice their Spanish.
So I would like to create such opportunities.

You do not need to be or become one of my students to be a member of this club. All
you need is the desire to practice your Spanish and make new friends.

The conversation club is a project which started in the Summer of 2006. This is a
much more intensive conversation group than the typical "Let's meet for tapas and
sangría once a month" kind of group. Meetings  take place on a weekly basis
provided that at least 4 people have RSVP. From time to time, I would like to have
some sort of special event such as guest speakers from different Spanish speaking
countries, Latin dance lessons (in Spanish), film showings, Spanish speaking local
artists, etc.

Actually,  the second Friday of each month, is opening night for over a dozen galleries
and artist studios in the neighborhood. Many people come over to enjoy the art and a
glass of wine.

But mostly, the idea of the conversation club is to have a social time where people
can practice their Spanish in a relaxed and casual atmosphere.

Here are the details:

When: From 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. (Although people are welcome to stay longer)
every Friday evening provided that at least 4 people have RSVP.

Where: 1909 South Halsted, 2nd FL. This is a great space to meet. However,
meeting somewhere else on occasion is also a possibility.

How Much: The conversation club is free. Just please bring something to share. It can
be something to eat or something to drink (BYOB) or both.

What is the level required: This group is a tool for those people who are at a
conversational level but also for those who want to become conversational. This
means that along with benefiting from it, everyone who participates needs to be
patient and encouraging. However, everyone invited has a level that allows them a
certain degree of participation. I would say people need to know at least the present
tense, the simple past tense and be somewhat familiar with other tenses.

If you are interested in becoming a member or have any questions, feel free to
